In my experience with preschoolers and kindergartners, January is often a very exciting time of year. I always marveled at the growth that children exhibited when they returned from the two-week winter break. Somehow, the time away from school gave children a chance to integrate all they had been learning. It seemed like things were starting to gel! No wonder January was always one of my favorite months in school. One of the areas where I consistently saw growth was in the area of patterns - both creating patterns and recognizing patterns.
